The Americana band juxtapose a literal cliff and falling in love with new soul-burning number.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
There’s little difference between that moment you’re standing on the edge of a literal precipice or feeling love’s very first butterflies fluttering in your stomach. You’re uneasy but there’s a thrill that rushes into your cheeks. They burn red and hot, almost an inescapable provocation that’ll send you hurtling right over. Americana band Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar fully embrace that high; it’s so overwhelming you can’t help but fall, literally and metaphorically. “Loving You is Easy” warms the senses with Martin’s raspy purr, accentuating the innate gospel twinge to the arrangment. In the accompanying visual, directed by Lisa Mann, Martin hops in her convertible and high-tails it down a dusty and dirty back road, and even when her car breaks down, an aura circles about her, despite the pain. “Loving you is so easy / It’ll leave me with a broken heart,” she howls.
“Loving You is Easy” samples the band’s new record, The Reckless One, out everywhere now.
