Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Rosie the Riveter was originally a campaign icon during World War II to recruit women to frontlines of various deference industries. The poster (we all know the one) soon became a symbol for women’s equality and has since been used in other contexts in ensuing decades. Now, country warrior Sarah Peacock brandishes the imagery for her new song, a combustible, gear-turning anthem that sees Peacock kicking ass and taking names. “Lady MacGyver” flicks the gender switch, and Peacock’s return could not be more climatic. “A good pair of pliers and an old screwdriver / Sounds like a job for Lady MacGyver,” she fills her lungs with a resolve of self-worth. Her screams bellow across the valley, and all eyes will be one what she does next. Nothing is more empowering than this line: “There’s a full day’s work for a man to do / But she could have it done by noon,” she smirks.
