Taste Test: Steve Benjamins yearns for ‘A Little Kindness to Sit Beside’
The indie-pop upstart punctures the pressure of life with his starry new song.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
I woke up in a clammy sweat this morning, as the day’s workload had already begun churning inside my brain. We all operate the same, sometimes, forever fated to a hamster wheel chasing down things we’ll never have. Burning through his own version of such mental anguish, indie-pop singer-songwriter Steve Benjamins pushes himself to rediscover the beauty that is fully sprouted and in-bloom around him. With “A Little Kindness to Sit Beside,” a sequence of magical pulsating orbs dancing in effervescent shapes overhead, Benjamins learns that gratitude is, perhaps, his greatest asset against the world. “Mother Good / Give us light / Hold us close / Weave us tight,” his words escape into the misty air, a confessional for all of mankind.
