New York City treasure Birch emerges from her cocoon for a more synthetic bit of electronica. “Your Gold” is firmly planted and nourished in stark, tear-stained lyrics – her journey through an ever-changing industry a high-stakes gamble. “Now, you won’t stop me,” she locks her jaw. She grits her teeth, too, yet her voice remains heavenly as ever. She makes sure not to become jaded enough to abandoned her growing catalog of vital pop, but she doesn’t allow naivety to seep into her bones. She’s simply a warrior.

Jessie Ware returns with a world-blurring new concoction called “Mirage (Don’t Stop).” She marries dance with moody alt-pop, psychedelic and glossy, and offers a muted, lush vocal. “Sometimes, I see you in my dreams,” she coos through crunchy and crisp synths. The beat soon escalates, and she, too, rides the groove till the wee hours of the morning. It’s a funky number that’ll get you through the ensuring winter months; the spring thaw is not too far away. “I just want to be lost in your eyes,” she whispers into your ear. We’re sold!
