Much like Alpha Chrome Yayo, synthwave conjurer Miles Matrix is a bewitching shape-shifter who bends time and the human consciousness to his will. A musical palette pinned to the stars as some godlike celestial body, the Vienna mighty morphing magician could very well change the entire course of human history. Cutting out samples from the 1960 cosmic odyssey film Assignment: Outer Space, starring Rik Van Nutter and Gabriella Farinon, the rocket emission of “You Did Good, Kid” scatters its crystal powders as stardust across the galaxy. As shiny as it might seem on the exteriors, its shell bright and polished, there is a terribly melancholic undercurrent that’ll hook your lungs and never let up. Pings and tings alert the senses, and an army of goosebumps punctures your skin. And you can’t help but go along for the ride. The meteoric excursion is an essential cut from Matrix’s new record, Buena Vista, out today.

We’ve been waiting with antici…pation for Rayvon Owen‘s new single. “X” marks the spot, indeed, as he entrances and arrests the body with a provocative mixture of R&B and sugar-crusted pop. “Ain’t got no regrets / Don’t waste your breathe,” he sings, culling a former relationship as a necessary chapter of his life. “I got new romances / You’ll always be my ex,” he looks back fondly but won’t get drug back into such a toxic web. He’s brazen when he needs to be, guarding his heart in the process, but he makes it very clear the past is forever ingrained in his body.

Tbh, we’re ride or die for XYLØ. With her new track, also called “Ride or Die,” she makes a case for a lover and their spellbinding aroma. “All I wanna do is lie with you / Al I wanna do is die for you,” she hangs out her heart on the line right on the hook. It pulsates with static electricity, a lightning rod rising out of her core, and even as it combs chillwave and other metallics, she strikes as hard and quick as a cobra. You know we’re right.
