Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

“Play ‘Wonderwall!'” someone yells, quite drunkenly. Gecko just rolls his eyes, responds with some chatter, and continues with his pre-planned setlist. The indie-pop singer-songwriter has experienced what many musicians likely have encountered: random song requests from the crowd (and they expect you to know it and play it). With his goofy new entry “Can’t Know All the Songs,” he vents his frustrations, also begging the listener to remember he’s an actual person. “I’m not a jukebox / I’m a man / There’s a heart, not a selection of songs under my surface,” he sings. The song’s sticky exterior is  like picking gum off the bottom of your Converse, and there’s something deliciously watermelon and chipper about it. His lyrics are charming, funny-bone tickling, making points right ‘n left ⏤ and referencing a Shania classic will get you all the brownie points. “Just because I’ve got a guitar / Doesn’t mean I know a specific song / That you might want to hear right now…” he later implores.

“Can’t Know All the Songs” is the latest primer for his new album.
