We’ve all had sex fantasies. Don’t lie now. Alt-pop artist Ian Abel fully leans into his own, mining his nerdy bookishness for an erotic student-teacher rendezvous. With “The Way I feel About You,” he lets his confessions all hang out along a line of throat-scratching synths and mechanic blips and bloops. “That look in your eyes / And there’s no disguising how you got me / Captivated by the first kiss,” he puckers his lips. Abel’s voice slides on the beat, flickers of rough-cut percussion, counter-balancing his commanding smoothness. It’s sweet and sticky just like candy.
