Moments of sheer brutality come along to remind you what the world really is like. The murder of George Floyd last summer was another puncuation mark on a long line of Black people who have met the same fate. The only possible silver lining is the awakening that happened in the aftermath. It was a turning point in American history where silence is complicity; no one gets to sit out any more. Americana trio named Love Crumbs observe such a time with their new song “Cavalcades,” a heartfelt tune absolutely “bathed in impossible light.” Its glistening edges do not deter from the song’s unshakable heaviness that oozes inward from the outside world. “We’re moving forward in time / You’re moving backwards… step aside,” they yowl into gentle, tickling sunlight.
