French singer-songwriter Alison Manicourt and British-Iranian composer and producer Shervin Hejazi collide to create Mona et Toi. They bill themselves as noir-rock, bending music like fragments of light through a prism. Their song, “Sweet + Sour,” radiates intense electricity, injected with anthemic self-expressiveness and a no-fucks attitude. “I don’t know how to feel about this…!” Manicourt screams into the hypnotic swirl. The noise crushes down around her, but her magic, fused with Hejazi’s, powers her up into the stratosphere.
“Sweet + Sour” samples the duo’s new album, Radical Romance of Mind, out 8/28.
