It’s hard to make art when the world cluelessly moves quicker every single day. It gets exhausting baring your heart to no one. Art should be its own reward, but it also has value. Indie-folk duo Portnoy shed the agony of creating, the long nights, the sticky sweat cresting their brow with a brassy new jingle called “Spotified,” which also punctuates the absurdity of today’s consumer habits and shifting business model. “And how do we get radio airplay / As if we haven’t all been Spotified anyway?” the charming daredevils chide the system ⏤ sticking it to the man as they say. The beat gallops along as high steeds trampling turf underneath their cleanly-polished hooves, their cheery cheeks growing cherry and gleaming in the sun. It’s the kind of sunny anthem that’s undeniably certain to freshen up any sort of sour mood.

“Spotified” anchors the duo’s debut album, No Complaints, expected later this year.
