The Singles Bar: Ryann Ross – Irish Exit

There’s something beautifully haunting about Ryann Ross‘ “Irish Exit.” Its acoustic luminescence carves out a stunning and blinding sketch about love and scorn. “You don’t have to love me, if you won’t,” she sings, her voice charred and gritty. Drums thump; piano flutters, and Ross stands amidst a furiously and dangerously cold landscape. A frigid air blows across the arrangement, and there’s an overwhelming sense that Ross has been utterly devastated. And there’s no returning from such heartache. There’s only silence.

“Irish Exit” samples her debut, On the Marsh EP, out now.
