Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Love has a way of finding you at all costs. Even in your darkest, most dire of circumstances, perhaps you’ve been left for dead by a former lover, a new romance can strike and entice you back. Of two spirits, alt-pop tamer Shawnee succumbs to a dream-like state with her new song. “Ur the Only One,” which pops and fizzles beneath the murmur of needle on vinyl, witnesses her new dalliance totally arrest her whole being. Her once diminishing embers are re-stocked with a ferocious fire that reignites from inside-out. “Treading water, when you found me,” she sings, her voice a whisper but alarmingly distance. She navigates a haunting kaleidoscope of sonic lashes that tremble and quake, soon allowing her to somehow reconnect with the energy she once assumed lost forever. Now, she rises and readies for new beginnings, even if her wounds still haven’t completely healed.
