The Singles Bar: Alex Nash – The Eye of the Beholder

“They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” sings Alex Nash, a raspy tremble echoing in every syllable. With “The Eye of the Beholder,” he cherishes the woman he holds in his arms each and every night. “Love comes to everyone / Might sound like the most lowdown lie you heard,” he continues. “But trust me, buddy, I know.” The gentle, amber-lit arrangement feels primed for a slow dance down at the local bar on a Friday night. You spin your love across the floor, and everything and everyone melts away. There’s no one else in the entire world for those four minutes. Even after the song ends, you still remain in that place of comfort and yearning.
