Video Killed the Radio Star: Donna Dafi – Good Morning

We all have that turning point when we finally excavate the power that’s always been buried within us. Just ask Donna Dafi. Her new song/video “Good Morning” celebrates that revelatory moment with a soulful power-pop chorus, as Dafi breaks the chains of the grueling, soul-crushing 9-to-5 for a joyous rebellion. “Made my way through the flames,” she sings, backed by a cathedral-shaking choir. “In a world full of sharks, you can only get so far,” she warns in the second verse. Her lyrics get stuck to the back of the brain like an itch you can’t reach. Dafi’s voice empowers the listener, even sending a shock through the skeletal system. Pop music can sometimes be like that.
