Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 64: Hazel Bloom, Sophia Scott, MALKA & more

Enjoy new songs from Kyan Palmer, Sasha Sloan, Pistol Annies, Brett Cameron, Matt McAndrew and more!

Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.

Sophia Scott follows up her irresistible “White Fence” jam with another equally addicting smash called “Strangers Again.” She slips between pop and country like a thief in the night, stealing our hearts away from the static of life for a sunset-strewn rendezvous. “You knew how to kickstart my teenage heart,” she remembers, reliving a young love that remains remarkably potent and twinkles in the light’s delicate touch. “Heaven was your backseat…”

Americana group Brothers Fortune wrestle with a past relationship, wondering where it all went wrong, with “Blind Spot,” a bluesy number that’s a little bit Jason Isbell and a whole lotta Avett Brothers. Folk-smith Lindsay Clark yearns to “Grow” and break away from the toxic clutches of the past on her vocally potent album opener, built on mournful acoustic guitar that cuts like a knife through butter. Even when a lushly spooky choir of strings fade in as stormy rain clouds on a summer afternoon, Clark holds her ground and offers up a searing vocal line.

Alternative enchanter Thomas Abban, who finally issues his eclectic and volatile debut record, A Sheik’s Legacy today, blesses with “Symmetry & Black Tar,” an syrupy concoction of rock, primitive music and campfire crunch. Elsewhere on the new playlist, Hazel Bloom confesses “I Loved You, Once,” with clammy, temperature-dripping synths, while Kyan Palmer pleads with every fiber of his earthly being, “Pretend That You Love Me,” a juicy cut from his new record, Burn Mona Lisa.

The latest new music weekly edition also contains essentials from: William Fitzsimmons, Edward and Jane, Brett Cameron, Matt McAndrew, HOAX, Sasha Sloan, Jamie Lin Wilson, County Line Runner, Pistol Annies, Holly Hyatt, David Morris and countless others.

In all, we’ve got 32 new songs spin and spin and spin some more.

Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
