The blog favorite embraces even the most tragic tears of herself with a new anthem.

Choosing to tumble out of bed and make your way to the kitchen (for a cup of ambition) is a monumental feat in and of itself. No one is talking about that enough. The choice to live another day should be commended. Grunge-pop glitter queen Girl Wilde highlights her own personal progress through valleys of darkness with her slurpy new single “I Don’t Wanna Die.” As she comes to embrace even the most tragic fault lines in herself, the strength she uncovers is unlike anything she’s ever experienced. Her life profoundly comes into clearer focus. “I like to drink alone at night / At least, I don’t wanna die,” she curls her lips into a delicious snarl. She wears her heart valiantly on her sleeve; we could all take a page out of her book if we want to break through such sour personal barriers. How else can we possible alleviate the stigma around talking about mental health if we don’t actually talk about any of it?

“I Don’t Wanna Die” samples Girl Wilde’s debut EP, expected later this year.
