Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Pablo Brooks escaped a toxic, manipulative relationship by the skin of his teeth. So, he then wrote a song about it. “I wish you’d let me fucking breathe,” he sings. In “Boy Don’t Cry,” he not only revisits that time in his life but explores toxic masculinity and its ravaging effects on his mind. “Save me from the things I want / A love that leaves me crying on my own / Wish I had known,” he sings, the production falling away and his voice as light as a feather. A certified banger, “Boy Don’t Cry” doesn’t play around. In fact, it’s just become a contender for song of the summer.
