Travis Pickering delights in good old-fashioned country music, circa the ’90s. His new song, “Hangover Song,” fits somewhere between Mark Wills and Clint Black. Memory swirls at the bottom of a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, or at least, that’s how Pickering views it. Cloudy moments mix with the fleeting nature of time, colliding into an explosive, forlorn ballad. “It ain’t the way she drank my tequila / Or the note that she left in my bed,” he weeps. “It’s been 48 hours, but I still think about her.” A hangover, and a ruthless parting, will do that to you.
