Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Joh Chase is hopeful. After digging around their proverbial pocket, Chase discovers a “Lucky Penny,” a shiny little thing that promises so much luck in life. “I’ll flip it again,” they sing, looping the refrain until it burrows deep in their brain. Life can be a crapshoot, yet Chase is able to find those silver slivers that make it all worth it. Whether that’s the groove of the guitar strings or the crowd’s thunderous cheers, there is always something to behold that makes you feel wholly alive. With “Lucky Penny,” Chase also announces signing to Kill Rock Stars and looks to the horizon for a wave of new music to come. The glean in their eyes is magnetic and infectious, transmitting a particular high straight into the eardrums. Given the state of the world these days, “Lucky Penny” is exactly what we needed. It’s a salve for the broken, a light for the wanderer, a vessel through which there is great healing.
